Shearling & Emily Wraith

Since I started blogging I’ve had this weird feeling about wearing the same thing multiple times on the blog, like it’s a blogger no-no. There are some bloggers that seem to have infinite closets and never wear the same thing twice. That’s not the case for me.

Before I shoot a look I ask myself, have I worn this before? When and how? What can I do to make it look different? What if people notice?

But then I ask myself: honestly, who cares?

Yeah, I wear my clothes multiple times. Many times, even. Isn’t that the point of buying a piece of clothing? You see something you like so much that you want to have the chance to wear it any time you like. This is my second winter with my shearling jacket, and I’m as happy as ever wearing it.

Lately when I shop, I look for versatile things that I can style in many ways and wear over and over again. Isn’t that better than having a disposable wardrobe?

I also want to talk about something new. Recently a friend approached me to collaborate with him on his latest project. He’s been sourcing artisans who create unique, handmade jewelry for his new website. This anatomical heart pendant by Emily Wraith is one of the pieces. The detail is really amazing.

In fact, all of the Emily Wraith pieces are really cool and interesting if you like edgy/alternative pieces, so check out Noesty if you’re interested in handmade jewelry that can’t be found anywhere else.

Hopefully, I will be showing some more soon on the blog, so stay tuned!

    Such a statement piece!!
Who cares if you have worn this before!! I love seeing the same pieces styled differently!

    • Maria

Thanks Dora! Good to know 🙂 I guess it’s just me being paranoid haha

  • Edita

    LOVE that neckpiece, very rock’n’roll!
    🎄 🎅 ⛄️ Happy holidays! 🙂

    • Maria

Thank you Edita! Happy holidays to you too 🙂

  • Melis

Agree on restyling items you wore before. I think it shows that we are real people, plus who wants an overflowing closet anyways? 🙂 p.s. you look stunning!

    xx Melis

Exactly! In real life I feel my wardrobe is pretty decent, but I see some bloggers who seem to be wearing a whole new outfit in every photo. But I love my clothes and wearing them over and over again!

So true! I definitely feel like I need to wear new clothes in my posts – but honestly, who cares!! Well said.

    • Maria

Thanks! I’m glad I’m not the only one 🙂

Oh Babe!! Absolutely loved this post! I agree with you so much. Like during the last months I have been thinking: WOW but i feel like I am always wearing the same things, it feels like I am just unable to reinvent myself. It’s a circle where I just keep doubting myself and even my place on the blogging sphere. At the end of the day, I spoke about it with my best friend telling her that well: I don’t have the closet that most bloggers have and I am unable to buy a chanel bag per month. I told her that well unfortunately, that is what people like the most and follow the most.

Then she gave me the biggest slap in the face and told me :yeah but none of them are real. i don’t want a girl who freaking photoshops herself and is anorexic and wears stuff that I am unable to wear. I want someone I can relate to.

So yeah. I don’t care: I love your outfits but most of all: I love the heart and effort you put into it to connect with me and others everyday! And i like that you write about it instead of telling us how magic a black outfit is paired to a starbuck cup!! I have written a way longer story than what I expected but keep being yourself and telling us all about it!! That is all that matters <3

Aw thank you Neguine!! I understand the really popular, famous bloggers who have millions of followers, I know I definitely can’t compete with their wardrobes. But then I see other newer bloggers who still have Chanel and Chloe bags and Valentino shoes, and I’m just over here with my Topshop boots and H&M bag like how do they do it?
I spoke about it with one of my photographers and she also told me I shouldn’t worry and she loves seeing how I re-style pieces. It’s all in our heads! I appreciate your long story, it really made me smile 🙂
The thing is, you have a signature style. You’re always rocking blazers and menswear inspired looks and you own it! Even if it does feel like you’re always wearing the same thing. Karl Lagerfeld always wears the same thing and he’s a legend, so maybe it’s not such a bad thing? xx
